This is a new position due to an internal restructure. We are looking for someone to work 30 hours per week (8am – 2.30pm with a half hour for lunch) based at our Te Aroha Office plus additional hours as required during busy times and to cover leave. This role will undertake some customer service duties and will also undertake administration duties including word processing, mail sorting, photocopying and office stationery management.

Professional Services Business Unit Manager
Matamata-Piako District Council is seeking a suitably qualified person to lead and manage our internal professional services business unit (Kaimai Consultants) based at our head office in Te Aroha.
Kaimai Consultants is responsible for undertaking professional engineering design, contract management and supervision duties for a range of local authority services and infrastructure. This role would involve leading and managing a hard working and productive team of 15.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Leadership and management of the unit's strategic direction as well as developing the unit to meet both service targets and business plan objectives
• Management and leadership of staff
• Financial management, including preparation of the unit's business plan
• Enhancement of positive internal and external customer relations
• Investigation, contract preparation, tender processes and supervision of a range of local authority projects and services
You will need to have proven staff management experience with an ability to get the best from a team preferably within a commercial professional engineering or contracting environment. You will need to be a customer focused effective decision maker and a strong highly motivated leader. In addition you will have an awareness of local government and high quality mediation and negotiation skills.
To be successful you must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment. You should have work and management experience in the relevant technical fields and a strong commitment to meeting performance targets. You will also need to have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a positive attitude.
